BLOWUP: Recent Sculpture and Drawings by Heide Fasnacht was organized by Susan Stoops, Curator of Contemporary Art. It includes three new sculptures and two color drawings created specifically for the exhibition.

Heide Fasnacht's work is based on images from scientific observation, and presents natural phenomena in the form of static images - volcanoes, geysers, bomb blasts, sneezes, start clusters. Her drawings are built up with graphite and sometimes punctured with holes. The sculptures she creates are made with bits of polymer clay, springs, and urethane foam forced through wire mesh armatures. Her works allow the viewer to think about how they picture energy, and challenge typical visualizations of solidity and stability.

Heide Fasnacht was born in Cleveland in 1951. She lives and works in New York, and is an instructor at Parsons School of Design. She is represented by Bill Maynes Gallery in New York, and Bernard Toale Gallery in Boston. She has exhibited widely throughout the country for 20 years, and her work can be found in the collections of Brooklyn Museum, High Museum of Art, Detroit Institute of Arts, and Philadelphia Museum of Art.
