Norman Bluhm Drawings

Best known for his mural-scaled canvases covered with splashes and bold strokes of intense color, Norman Bluhm was also a prolific draftsman, and his drawings reflect the thoughtful evolution of his style. This exhibition, drawn from the artist's estate, features 25 of his drawings, ranging from sketchbook leaves to vivid, multi-paneled mural drawings. The works include Matisse-like representations done in Paris following Bluhm's service in World War II and the frenetic splash-and-drip images that made him famous as a leading second-generation Abstract Expressionist.
