Jodie Manasevit: Just Painting

Jodie Manasevit, Census #1, 2002, oil on canvas, Courtesy of the artist and Diacono Fine Art, Boston

Through August 21, 2005

Over the past decade, Jodie Manasevit (American, b. 1951) has explored how “just” the stroke of a pigment-laden brush can be both the subject of a painting and the organizational structure of its composition. This exhibition traces her works' evolution from the literal experience of the “brick paintings” (oil on paving stones) from the early ‘90s to the complex strata and rhythms of the recent “stroke paintings” (oil on canvas).

See the Gallery Guide to learn more about Jodie Manasevit and this exhibition.

This project is supported by the Don & Mary Melville Contemporary Art Fund. Additional generous support provided by Worcester Magazine.
