Fresh Woods and Pastures New: 17th-Century Dutch Landscape Drawings from the Peck Collection

Stroll along the Italian countryside, walk among ancient Roman and medieval ruins, or simply relax in a farmer's modest surroundings. This exhibition of 40 drawings from the collection of Sheldon and Leena Peck, invites us to enter the world of Dutch masters such as Rembrandt van Rijn, Jan Lievens, and Jacob van Ruisdael. These artists illustrated the pastoral life around them, and through a closer inspection of their work, the particular nature of Dutch drawings will be examined.

Organized and circulated by the Ackland Art Museum, The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. This is the first exhibition for many of the drawings in this show.
